Qingdao, China - January 8, 2007 - At the second "Asia Construction Days" held by the Business Unit Admixture Systems Asia Pacific in Qingdao visitors were offered presentations, application demonstrations and discussions. The city of Qingdao is not only famous for its brewery and as venue for the sailing competitions of the upcoming Olympic Games. It is now also known to more than 130 participants as the venue for the "Asia Construction Days" of the Business Unit Admixture Systems Asia Pacific. The event had been organized jointly by Dr. Christian Kober, Director Admixture Systems China, Dr. Bruce Christensen, Vice President R&D, Production and Procurement, and Dr. Karsten Eller, Vice President Strategic Controlling & Marketing. One and a half days tightly packed with presentations and demonstrations on a wide range of topics left little to be desired.
Among the participants were wellkknown experts such as Wang Wu Ren of China's largest building company, the "China State Construction and Engineering Corporation", who highlighted modern methods of project management, or Professor Xie of the China Academy of Railway Sciences, who explained the durability requirements for concrete used in building the tracks for the new high-speed rail links in China. Our own experts' presentations dealt with technical highlights of the concrete industry, and Dr. Christensen discussed the challenges faced by multinational companies in bringing international Research and Development to China. The participation of top representatives of international companies such as Ove Arup or Lafarge Cement underlined the great interest in our concrete technology.
"BASF Construction Chemicals is committed to offering its Asian customers world-class technology– adjusted to local market requirements", Dr. Boris Gorella, Head of the Business Unit Admixture Systems Asia Pacific, emphasized.
"This conference highlights once again that we can contribute not only as a supplier but are present throughout the entire value creation chain."
