Location: Approximately 100 km upstream from the confluence of the Nam Theun and Mekong rivers in LAO PDR. Year of Completion: 2009 to May 2012 Project Overview: This is an expansion project from 220 to 440 MW of the installed capacity of the existing hydroelectric power plant, originally built by Recchi-Cmc JV in 1995 - 1998. The new 5km of Headrace tunnel ad 1km penstock will be constructed parallel to existing tunnel by Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) excavation method. New 60m high of reinforced concrete dam will be constructed 20km upstream of the existing dam.
