BASF Partners With Architects and Owners to Explore Green Construction Solutions
Shanghai, China – April 25, 2008 – The opening ceremony of the BASF Construction Chemicals roadshow took place today at the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum to explore effective solutions for green construction through interactive sessions with architects and developers.
In considering material selection, architectural design and application as a whole, the event is designed to delve into all-in-one solutions for green building by enhancing construction safety, durability, efficiency and style.
“China is the world’s largest construction market,” said Huang Xu, General Manager of BASF’s Construction Chemicals Greater China. “As the global leading supplier in the construction industry, BASF is committed to leveraging its expertise and collaborating with architects and owners to address the industry trends and market needs, thus improving the construction quality and supporting the green construction in China.”

Energy-saving and environmentally-friendly materials are essential to green building construction. Good quality waterproofing materials, for instance, can help protect the construction and prolong the life span. The External Insulation Finishing System (EIFS) is a key element in enabling energy conservation and advanced flooring systems can meet the highest safety, hygienic and aesthetic standards, as well as enhancing the ambience of the rooms and reduce maintenance costs.
In order to have materials available for green building in a quicker and better manner, BASF incorporates the needs of “green” and the requirements of architectural design and application into product innovation. Its waterproofing system, for example, is designed to provide protection from water ingress and damage from the basement to the roof. BASF's world leading EIFS meets the needs of energy efficiency and aesthetics at the same time, allowing for a modern, yet sustainable, design of today's buildings. The Chinese map coated with BASF’s decorative flooring product in the exhibition area "Homestead on Earth" of Shanghai Science and Technology Museum has perfectly realized the creative idea of the designer and enabled the safety, durability and longevity of the facility.
Following the opening ceremony, BASF Construction Chemicals will kick off a series of roadshows in major cities. These shows will use seminar and product demonstration to facilitate discussion among architects and engineers on green solutions for commercial and residential buildings, industrial facilities and infrastructure projects.
Shanghai is the first stop of the roadshows, which will be held among top ranking design institutes including: Shanghai Xian Dai Architectural Architectural Design and Research Institute of Tongji University, the Ninth Design and Research Institute for Shipbuilding Industry of China, Shanghai Municipal Engineering Design Institute, China Haisum Engineering Co., Ltd. and Shanghai Pudong Architectural Design and Research Institute Co., Ltd.
