BASF showcases green building solutions at International Green Building Conference 2009
Singapore - October 27, 2009 – BASF will showcase its green building solutions at the inaugural International Green Building Conference (IGBC) 2009 from 28 to 30 October at the Suntec International Convention & Exhibition Centre.
Themed “Build Green. The future is now” , IGBC 2009 is the anchor event of the Singapore Green Building Week (October 26 – November 1, 2009), which will also feature the official opening of Singapore’s first Zero Energy Building – the first of its kind in Southeast Asia. BASF’s Green Labeled Conipur M800 was selected for application on the roof garden of the Zero Energy Building.
“Climate protection is an integral part of BASF’s global corporate strategy for sustainable development, and is an important consideration for all our activities,” said Mr. BY Yee, Managing Director, ASEAN, BASF South East Asia Pte Ltd. “We create intelligent chemical solutions that help to protect our environment and contribute to maintaining and increasing the quality of life of this and future generations.”
“BASF provides the innovative solutions that help protect the climate through resource conservation and energy efficiency,” added Mr. Paul Menezes, Business Management Head, ASEAN, BASF Construction Chemicals. “These energy-efficient features are incorporated in our green solutions for the building and construction industry.”
BASF has set up four green solution models at its booth:
(1) Exterior Insulation Finish Systems (EIFS)
BASF’s FINESTONE® EIFS for comfort, security and energy-efficiency
(2) Walls system
BASF’s Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF) and Smart Dynamic Construction (SDC) - innovative approach to new wall construction for better durability, performance and energy-efficiency.
Buildings insulated with Sandwich panels using Elastopor® Polyurethanes (PU) rigid foam can make possible with the installation of thinner walls for increased living space and better living environment.
(3) Flat Roofs system
BASF’s Cool Roof Solutions, a patented technology, utilizes simple and quick installation techniques that enhances the building’s Roof Thermal Transfer (RTF) to achieve significant reduction in energy usage for existing buildings with flat roofs.
Conipur M800/ Elastocoat PU spray membrane with ElastoporTM spray applied PU foam, which produces a seamless insulating layer with no joints or gaps, is proven to increase energy efficiency with its outstanding insulating properties. The spray applied system allows for seamless detailing even for the most intricate manouveres surrounding existing M&E equipment and services commonly found on existing roof tops.
(4) Sloping Roofs system
BASF’s PERIPOR® Board, an innovative expandable insulating solution to protect against ingression of external heat, can be easily installed directly beneath roof tiles of pitched (sloping) roofs.
"Climate change is one of the most significant global challenges. As a socially responsible company, BASF is committed to ensuring sustainable development in the community through active participation in resource conservation, energy efficiency and climate protection – key factors to ensure long-term corporate success,” said Yee.
