Glenium SP8HR

GLENIUM SP8HR is a new generation superplasticiser developed primarily for use in hot climates. It contains polycarboxylate ether polymers and is specially formulated to give exceptionally high water reduction and significantly reduced slump loss.

GLENIUM SP8HR is free of chloride and has been formulated to comply with ASTM C 494 for Type A & F admixtures, BS5075 for high range water reducing admixtures and JIA A6204 concrete. It is compatible with all Portland cements that meet recognised international standards.

GLENIUM SP8HR is differentiated from conventional superplasticisers in that it is based on a unique polycarboxylate ether polymer with long lateral chains.

This greatly improves cement dispersion. In addition, these polymers have been synthesised with "time release" technology to extend slump life without retardation of set time. This provides long slump retention and excellent early strengths. At the start of the mixing process the same electrostatic dispersion occurs as described previously, but the presence of the lateral chains, linked to the polymer backbone, generate a steric hindrance which stabilises the cement particles capacity to separate and disperse. This mechanism provides flowable concrete with greatly reduced water demand.
